Celebrate with Stars

I hope you all had a great Independence Day.  Our power flickered in a quick storm and then my internet wasn’t working so I couldn’t post this.  I made it for the Verve challenge using stars.  Think I used enough?  It was really hard to get a good picture of this so I hope you can get the idea.  I only had a white and a royal blue backdrop and the card didn’t show up on the white.

It’s a white card base with Night of Navy and a few touches of Real Red at the corners.  The star, USA, and celebrate stamp are just the $1 stamps at M…  The star and USA are stamped in Night of Navy and the celebrate was stamped in White Craft ink then embossed with white embossing powder on Navy paper.  It perfectly fit our small oval punch so I punched it out and layered it on a Real Red large oval punch.  The white square in the middle is a 3 1/8″ square with a 3″ square of Brocade Blue.  The Brocade didn’t photograph well.  I punched four 1 1/4″ squares out of the Prints Pack and layered them on the Brocade.  I used the mat pack and punched the holes all around the outside edge.  Then I used Real Red, Night of Navy, and Silver (non-SU which also didn’t photograph well because it’s shiny) and punched out a small star then the large star around it making an open star.  There is a small white Rub-on from the Anchored set in the small Real Red star.  I attached them with glue dots.  The large Night of Navy Star is the bulk chipboard star with Night of Navy cs that I used with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder.  The other Night of Navy stars are also out of the Swiss Dot paper.  It’s all finished off with the Red Gingham Ribbon.  Now, who can I send it to?  Guess I’ll have to wait for next year!

I tried a grunge? distressed? version for a friend who likes that look but it’s just not me and I can’t pull it off!

Happy Thursday all!  And may I wish you an early safe and happy 4th!

Like many of you, I’m finding the demands on my time to be a little different with the kids home for the summer.  I find myself having less time to stamp and that is probably how it should be…priorities, priorities.

I took a look at the SCS Color Combination challenge and the Sketch challenge.  I decided to combine them and I put this card together.  I stamped my Fun & Fast Notes teacup image on it and thought I needed to reink my Jet Black Stazon…so I did.  Then I tried several times to use it and I had too much ink transferring to the stamp so I finally gave up and tried something that didn’t require watercoloring and Stazon.

I don’t love it but it’s all I had time to do before needing to get dinner ready.  This is a Black 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ base with layers of Wild Wasabi and Certainly Celery and Purely Pomegranate and the image is stamped on Natural White.  The stamp set is Garden Whimsey.  I shaded around the outside of the different layers with some Creamy Caramel and the cardstock’s matching ink (WW, CC, PP).  The black scalloped rectangle was cut with the Nestabilities.  The flower stems are in the WW and the flowers in PP.  The “bugs” were stamped on the flower layer with Basic Black and then stamped again on a scrap piece of the Natural White cs.  I cut the body (of the bugs) out of the seperate piece and popped it up on the flower image then added a little Crystal Effects to make them look shiny.  The scalloped rectangle is also popped up on the card and the Black Gingham ribbon finishes it off.

Celebrate You!

Hope you’re having a great Tuesday!  I enjoyed looking at the preview products from Stampin’ Up’s upcoming catalog and placed an order.  There are some exciting new products (scallop punch!) and I love some of the new colors.  I’m anxious to start playing with the new stuff and seeing what all of you come up with!

Well this is a fun little card I intended to use with my SAS last week but changed it at the last minute.  I love these little flip cards and the Greetings Galore images fit just right.

This is a Bashful Blue card base 6 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  With the 6 1/4″  edge at the top, it’s scored at 2 5/8″ and 3 5/8″.   Beate has a great tutorial here.

The background flower is from Background Basics and is stamped with Bashful Blue Classic Ink.  The Greetings Galore cake image is stamped in Jet Black Stazon (because it doesn’t bleed when using the Barely Banana Marker).  Then colored in with Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, and Certainly Celery markers.  I used the 2-way glue stick in the icing area and then sprinkled the lt blue Cosmo Glitter on top.

I marked the holes for the Barely Banana eyelets with the mat pack so they would be straight and then put them in with the crop-a-dile.  The sentiment over them is from the Little Bird Told Me stamp set.

The ribbon is Apricot Appeal 1/4″ grosgrain.  The sentiment on the back of the “flap” is from the hostess set For a Friend.

Thank you for visiting with me!

More SAS

This is another card for the stamp-a-stack.

It’s a white card base with the fold at the top.  The next layer is Regal Rose then Pretty in Pink.  The stamp set used is Heartfelt Thanks.  The flower is stamped in Pretty in Pink and the outline and center is in Regal Rose.  The leaf is from Roses in Winter and is stamped in Certainly Celery.

The ribbon is the 5/8″ grosgrain in Regal Rose.  The scallops were made on the Pretty in Pink with the corner rounder.  The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations and is stamped in Regal Rose also.  Lastly the 3 dew drops were added with some Tombow glue.

We also made a pocket card out of Elegant Eggplant.  The instructions for it are found here with the exception of the colors and the tab at the top of the inside card.  On this one I just used the 1 3/8″ circle punch and folded it in half then punched a hole in it with the crop-a-dile.  This is done in the Almost Amethyst DP and plain Almost Amethyst and Barely Banana.

Thanks for visiting with me!

2nd & 3rd of SAS

Here is the 2nd card in the Brithday Stamp-a-Stack.  I got the idea from Stampin’ Kub.

It’s a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Chocolate Chip Base.  A layer of Groovy Guava DP is on a layer of WW.  The spiral punch is used for the edge.  Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon is wrapped around the GG DP layer.  That WW with GG DP is popped up with dimensionals.  I used my Nestabilities to punch a white Oval Scallop, a Close to Cocoa Oval and a Groovy Guava Oval.  I used Chocolate Chip Craft ink and clear embossing powder to make the verse from Hugs & Wishes pop a little more.  Then added 2 Really Rust eyelets with my crop-a-dile.  I used the crop-a-dile so much in my Stamp-a-Stack!  The ladies commented that they didn’t think the Crop-a-dile (non Stampin’ Up!) came with very good instructions but using it so much made them a little more comfortable with it and they were going to try using theirs more often.

I loved the simplicity of this little card and it’s so clean and fresh looking.

This is the 3rd card of the stamp-a-stack.  I saw a card similar to this but don’t remember who it was to give credit.  Sorry.

This is a Wild Wasabi base with 1/2″ cut off the right edge on the front of the card.  I punched 4 squares out of the different East Coast Prep Designer Paper (I think they’re 1 3/8″) and layered them on Real Red and then a layer of White.  I used the Everywhere Glue Stick on the Bulk Chipboard Star and then put another of the East Coast Prep papers on it.  I let it dry just a little and then cut out real close around the star.  Then I used the sanding block to conform the paper to the star and show some white edges.

Next I took a piece of (retired) window sheets (transparency paper/plastic) and stamped on it with Black Stazon.  I let it dry just a few minutes and punched it out with the large star punch.  I attched it to the chipboard star with one small glue dot in the left point of the star.  Then I punched out a small star with the small star punch in the Wild Wasabi and the Real Red Paper.  After punching the small star, I used the large star and punched around the small star hole to make an open star.  I used an Anchored Rub-on star in the center of the small Wild Wasabi star.

The slit punch was used at the bottom of the back of the card and then a (retired) star eyelet was put in the slit with the crop-a-dile.  Last but not least, stamped “happy birthday” from the It’s Your Birthday set in Basic Black.

I’ll post the other few cards tomorrow.

1st of SAS

I have a Birthday Blowout Stamp-a-Stack tomorrow and have been working on trying to put together some easy, less time consuming cards for it.  I was going to do 4 cards x 3 each for a total of 12 cards but I couldn’t make up my mind so I think I’m doing 6 cards x 2 each.  I wanted a variety of styles–for men, for kids, for women, etc and tried to use some of my retiring sets and papers.

Here is the 1st of the 6 cards.  This one is the most geared towards men.

The base is a basic 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ in Bordering Blue with the fold at the top and then the corners cut to make the shape of a large tag.  The bottom is stamped with the retiring Print Pattern in Bordering Blue and the verse is Sincere Salutations in Chocolate Chip.

The large eyelets are put in (be sure to only punch the holes through the front of the card) with the Crop-a-dile and 3 strands of Natural Hemp are brought through and tied in a knot.  I took a Chocolate Chip marker and put some streaks on the hemp to make it a little more rustic looking.

The Touch of Nature bird is stamped with Black Stazon on Natural White cardstock.  The bird is again stamped on Bordering Blue and then cut out and attached to the Natural White.  The leaves are colored in Always Artichoke and the branch in Close to Cocoa and the bird legs in More Mustard.  I also darkened the eye with the Basic Black marker.  Then I took some Sahara Sand and the Blender Pen and outlined the image in a little shadowing.  The holes are punched at the top and bottom with the paper piercing tool and the Mat Pack.  A layer of Chocolate Chip is behind the Natural White and then a layer of Always Artichoke which is torn at the bottom.

As always…Thanks for visiting with me and all your kind comments!  Please come again!

B-day Pocket Card

Pocket cards are so fun, donchathink?  Here’s a simple one to whip up in no time!

This is a Groovy Guava piece of cardstock cut 4 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ and scored at 5 1/2″ and 9 1/2″.  The inside piece is a 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Close to Cocoa and then a 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″ piece of white layered on top and all corners rounded with the corner rounder punch.  I used the round tab punch, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 1 1/4″ circle punch, and 3/4″ circle punch.  The stamp set used is Think Happy Thoughts.  The Groovy Guava DP is used and a little textured Close to Cocoa.  The Ink used is Close to Cocoa, Groovy Guava, Versamark w/ white embossing powder, and Basic Black.  Finishing it off is white grosgrain ribbon, and some little sparkley stickers.  The two staples hold the ribbon on and the pocket together.  There are also 2 hidden staples near the bottom of the pocket behind the Groovy Guava DP.

SC181 & CC171

This card covers 2 seperate challenges from Splitcoast.  The color challenge was to use Soft Sky, Kraft, and Basic Black.  The sketch challenge is found here.

This card is a side folded 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Kraft Base with a layer of Basic Black on top.  The next layer of Kraft, Black and Soft Sky/Kraft is popped up with dimensionals.  The stamp set is Lovely As a Tree which is not retiring.  I stamped it in Versamark then applied Black embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Brighter Tomorrow and is also stamped in Versamark then heat embossed.  The Black Gingham ribbon finishes it off.  Simple!  Simple!

Thanks for visiting with me!  Come again!

MoJo 42

I had such fun with Julee’s sketch challenge mojo 42!  Thanks Julee!  Here it is

Here’s what I came up with.

This is a square 5″ x 5″ Whisper White card base with a layer of Basic Black and then Cool Caribbean.  I cut 3 strips of 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ in Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, and Apricot Appeal and attached them evenly spaced to a piece of Basic Black that is about 2 1/8″ x 4 3/4″.  The stamp set used is Garden Whimsey–one of VERY FEW that I have that will not be retiring (Grrr..Grrr).  I stamped the butterfly in Regal Rose and used the Basic Black marker to add the body and antenea.  Then I cut it out with my SU craft knife and bent up the wings a little and attached it to a 2″ circle in Cool Caribbean sponged at the edges in the same.  The 3 dew drops are in Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, and Apricot Appeal.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black (which isn’t smeary like it looks in the photo).

It was a VERY FUN project for an icky Monday morning!  Thanks again Julee!
